Gayle Phyllis

Linda: RN (Registered Nurse to RL (Ranch Lady) “We moved to our ranch location in Cheyenne in 2004. I drove back and forth to work each day passing a herd of alpacas. Fascinated with them, I began to read and explore the possibility of owning some. I fell in love with Sassy at the Denver Stock Show and the quest for an alpaca business started.

After convincing Chuck of the financial benefits, Wyoming Prairie Alpacas was born. I retired in 2006 from a 35 year career in cardiovascular nursing, rehab & wellness. Chuck works for Toshiba X-ray as a senior service representative. 40% of alpaca breeders come from a health care background.  My passion to take fleece to fashion led to the “Cowgirl Way” Shop. I have been learning to knit, crochet and spin. The alpaca lifestyle is exciting, rewarding, and relaxing. I’ve transferred my wellness background to my alpaca care – they eat right and get plenty of exercise. Chuck and I are originally from Cleveland, Ohio. The city kids are now ranchers - talk about a lifestyle change!”

Gary is an electrician by trade and has worked at Warren Air Force Base for the past 27 years. Gary has a passion to “play with those little critters”. He says, “they are amazing, fun to watch, and easy to care for. You never know what they are going to do next”. He is a life long friend as well as the chief pooper scooper, fence builder, and bobcat operator.

Gayle and Phyllis are fiber artists. They both work at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cardiac Rehab. Gayle taught herself to crochet. She now designs and creates everything from garments to afghans. "The best thing about crocheting is the feelings of relaxation, accomplishment, and joy of the stitches flowing through my fingers".
Phyllis is a women with many talents - knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting. She has never ending energy and enthusiasm. "Needle work is good for my soul. I am most in touch with myself while stitching. I not only get satisfaction from a finished product but also enjoy the process of making things." Our Goal: Fleece, Fashion, Fun
